Emancipatory Politics - Stage Floor Design
Old Kent Road Theater’s Emancipatory Politics at the Ontological-Hysteric Theater in Manhattan.
With the elevated seating, the stage floor becomes a scenic element working with the actors and setting the tone for the show.
When creating something like this, I get parts of the script as it develops and start generating ideas. The exciting part of our experimental company is the emphasis on collaboration. The art and the script develop at the same time.
It is amazing to be able to paint a theater in this way. The floor of the Ontological-Hysteric Theater is solid black and we were able to transform it for the run of the show. The painting process is fast and exhausting. And when the show is over… it is painted back to black.
Watch the slide show of THIS album. There are many pictures showing the process of this painting and the details of the imagery.
